A sporting chance

—Net(flix) gain: Now that Netflix has surpassed profit and subscriber expectations (with co-CEO Ted Sarandos getting paid almost $50 million last year), can viewers can a price break—maybe a free month with a renewal/initial subscription? (BTW, I claim 5 percent of the gross profits if this plan is put into action.)
—Smells like team spirit: In Chicago, the Cubs and White Sox have pretty much picked up where they left off last year—which is not-so-good news for the South Siders.
—Doing the splits: Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced that they’re divorcing—just three months after they married on television.
So what are the messages? Love and/or marriage can happen at any age—and so can divorce. Unfortunately, very few couples in the Bachelor franchise actually stay together—and why would they? It would be nice if people could run through the fields and enjoy a suite every day. However, real life settles in: taking out the trash, bickering over movies, shopping at Target, etc.
Of course, distance played a factor as well, as he lives in Indiana and she lives in New Jersey; they planned to move in together, but could never agree on a home—a major red flag.
They still plan on looking for love (with other people, of course). Good luck to them—although I think there’s something more happening than that supposedly lovey-dovey joint exit interview they gave recently.
